Creating during the Recife cultural exchange lab in 2014, Fortune Fictions was a project to engage commuters waiting at the city’s bus stops through clever use of the city‘s open data sets.
Commuters were invited to press a button on the bus stop, which would tell them their “fortune”. These fortunes were based on open data, and would give a personalised prediction based on up-to-date information on traffic density, weather and pollution levels. The fortunes would connect citizens with practical information on what was going on in the city, whilst creating a magical moment in their day.
