CAST is an ambitious, site-specific, city-centre pavilion, where the form of the structure’s cladding is created from 3D scans of items provided by the public, each of which will represent their own personal relationship with the city.
Residents from around the city might bring a guitar, a tennis racket, a toy or a treasured gift from a friend to a workshop. The items will be scanned in 3D and replicas will be made that form part of the ‘Bristol Model Kit’, reminiscent of the iconic Airfix model kits. These items will become the building blocks for the pavilion which will be constructed entirely of the possessions and curiosities of the people of the city. Once built, the pavilion will become a destination in itself and will incorporate sound and lighting elements that respond directly to the structural form and to its surrounding environment.
